Man Says He Lifts for His Mental Health, Clearly Also Lifting for Revenge

Jason says the gym is his therapy. And to be fair, he’s there six days a week, rain or shine, headphones on, jaw locked, visibly confronting something invisible.
He tells people he lifts “for his mind,” “to stay grounded,” and “because life is heavy.” But witnesses say he’s also lifting for Amanda, who broke up with him 11 weeks ago after suggesting he “try stretching.”

His playlist includes Eminem, Gregorian chants remixed with bass drops, and several spoken-word clips about rising from darkness.
“He’s healing,” one friend said. “But, like, with creatine.”
Buck Thomas isn’t surprised. “A lot of men don’t know how to process grief without muscle hypertrophy. We call it resilience. It’s actually emotional congestion with good shoulders.”
Jason hasn’t cried, but he has increased his Bulgarian split squat PR and started casually mentioning his resting heart rate on Bumble.
He insists it’s not about anyone. That he’s just building discipline. That his recent order of glow-in-the-dark lifting straps is unrelated to Amanda posting a picture with a guy in soft shoes.
Still, sources say he repeats “I’m good” between sets and once whispered “watch this” to no one in particular before hitting a max bench attempt.
Jason is expected to make a full emotional recovery sometime after summer — or after Amanda views his shirtless story without reacting.
Whichever comes first.
