Man Says He’s Waiting on God, Declines to Answer Phone or Emails

For three months, Marcus has told everyone he’s “in a season of waiting.”
Waiting on direction. Waiting on clarity. Waiting on God.

Also: waiting on a reply to six job applications, two text messages, and an invitation to his cousin’s birthday party.
He insists it’s not procrastination. It’s obedience.
“God’s timeline isn’t mine,” he says, sipping herbal tea and watching his phone buzz without flinching. “I don’t want to get ahead of what He’s doing.”
Friends are starting to wonder if what God is doing is trying to get Marcus to return a call.
Mockwell weighs in: “There’s a difference between spiritual stillness and strategic ghosting. Discernment doesn’t mean ignoring every notification.”
Marcus says he’s trying to quiet the noise, which is why he hasn’t checked LinkedIn since March. He believes if it’s meant to be, the door will open. He just doesn’t want to knock — or even be near the building.
At first, it was inspiring. A modern man unhurried by hustle culture, grounded in trust. Now, there are murmurs that he’s more “emotionally off-grid” than spiritually anchored.
Still, Marcus feels confident. “Abraham waited. Joseph waited. Jesus didn’t rush. Why should I?”
Some suspect the Lord did try to reach him—via calendar invite. He declined.
