The Internet –Instagram has begun quietly testing a new “Mood Ratio” feature, designed to reveal what percentage of your followers are currently thriving versus spiraling. Originally marketed as a mental wellness tool, the ratio appears beneath each post as a set of percentages—“63% Spiraling · 37% Thriving”—giving creators and brands real-time insight into the collective emotional nosedive of their audience. Early tests show the feature triggering more anxiety than insights, with influencers scrambling to delete posts that cause sudden spirals in others.
Advertisers are reportedly thrilled. Several brands are already preparing Q4 campaigns tied directly to Mood Ratios, such as “50% Off When 50% of Your Followers Are Crying” or “Free Shipping for Every Breakdown.” Instagram has declined to comment, but insiders suggest the platform may eventually allow users to sponsor mental health check-ins, monetize mood swings, or enable targeted ads like “We noticed you’re spiraling. Here’s a weighted blanket and some gummy vitamins.”
