Spotify has begun rolling out a new feature called “Vibe Score,” a dynamic rating system that analyzes your current playlist to determine if your emotional energy is acceptable by algorithmic standards. A low score may trigger automated suggestions like “Cheer Up, Emo Kid” or “Try Cardi B Instead of Crying B.” The company claims it’s designed to “enhance mood curation,” but users report being publicly vibe-shamed by their Bluetooth speakers.
Premium users will soon get access to Vibe Coaching, where an AI named “Melod.ai” suggests lifestyle changes based on listening history. One beta user claimed the app told them, “Maybe it’s not your ex. Maybe it’s the 42 Mitski songs in a row.” Spotify insists the data is anonymous, except for when it isn’t, like during upcoming “Emotionally Available Artist” campaigns targeted directly at your Vibe Score zone.
